The Australian Government and The Australian National University have agreed to the shared goals of:

  • improving the connection between the public sector and the best in public policy research from across Australia and the world. It is envisaged that the world’s brightest thinkers could be brought to Canberra to challenge, inform and inspire Australia’s public policy leaders.
  • fostering innovative relationships between the public sector and relevant academic institutions in an open and facilitative way.
  • building an enhanced evidence base on which policy practitioners can draw to develop future public policy. Academics will be encouraged to present their research findings in ways suitable for use by the public sector and broader Australian community.
  • developing the capabilities of Australian public servants so they can identify and adopt best practice thinking and action, and strive for the highest standards of professional achievement.
